The Kogi: “Pagamento” ceremony to honor and heal water
Kogi Indians still live in the traditional way of living in the sacred Sierra Nevada mountains of northern Colombia. In the mountains they call the „Heart of the World“.
According to their mythology, all the life arose from the ancient Mother. „In the endless Cosmic Quartz Crystal Egg is the body of our ancient Mother. Her womb consists of the Sea itself and the Great Lagoon radiating the sanctity of life. From this comes our Mother Earth, bounded by the sea, furrowed and water-soaked.“
Kogi Indians are endowed with a profound wisdom, according to which they worship water and its spirit. In ceremonies and rituals, they pray for their environment, its vitality and the abundance of water resources. They say that by giving gifts to water for its renewal and purification, we express gratitude to it and invoke the Spirit of Water. We give it attention and thus help to restore its vitality.
The Kogi, similarly to Indians from other tribes living in the Sierra Nevada Mountains (Arhuacos, Kanquamos and Wiwa), use various natural products for their spiritual work. They prefer to work with crystals from quartz crystal. They use them to record information, just as we use CDs, DVDs and USB. For „recording“ to the crystal, we only need our heart and our mind. According to the Indians, the human mind and heart are two very powerful tools by which each of us can contribute to the renewal of water as the most important resource for life on the planet.
In their ceremonies, which they call „pagamento“, which is payment or honor for them, they write information into the crystals with their mind and heart. They take the crystal in their hand and transmit the information to the crystal for a few minutes with their full attention of their mind and heart. For example „Thank you, water, for life,“ or „All over the planet, there is enough pure water for all humans, animals and plants“. These charged crystals are then placed in special places, often springs or sacred lagoons. From there, the information spreads across rivers, seas, oceans and clouds across the planet. This pagamento can be done by everyone, contributing to the renewal of the abundance and purity of water on our planet. They just need a crystal, a human mind and a heart for it.
The Kogi Indians say, „It is necessary for people to understand and accept the fact that water is the essential foundation of life and everything that exists: plants, animals, humans, air, earth … It is not enough just to understand, but above all, to introduce into your life the daily worship, healing and purification of water with your conscious attention.“
According to the indigenous tribes, who care for balance and harmony on this planet day and night, currently the most important thing is the restoration of balance in ourselves. Then the restoration of water springs and care for them as well as for their environment. The next step is to avoid destroying all its existing forms. The current evolutionary perspective of industrial predators leads us, and will continue to lead us, to greater drought and dryness on the Earth. This way it brings our Earth to irreversible drying, to drying of life. We cannot continue to stand by this behavior and development. There is a need for will and a strong intention, on the way to the vitality of our Mother Water, for it to recover and restore as much as possible.
„Agua de vida! Sin ella nada, con ella todo! – Water of life! Nothing without her, everything with her!“ This sentence is always used by Tomas, a wise man and a shaman born in the arid mountains of Mexico, to worship water, whenever he touches it.
